Supporting Troops Through Promotional Marketing

Memorial Day is a time of the year that reminds us all of the sacrifices service members and their families make to protect our nation’s freedom. It’s a time to remember those who have fought and gone before us, as well as to celebrate and honor those who have and who continue to fight for us today. While no amount of thanks or praise could ever suffice in showing our appreciation, to honor the sacrifices and successes made by our troops, we’ve proudly added four new products officially licensed by the U.S. Army, all of which will show support for our country’s military, as well as help to market your brand.

Madeline’s Munchies

Here at PrintGlobe, we take pride in the relationships we build with our customers. Working on an account manager basis, our dedicated account managers don’t just assist their customers with one time transactions, but instead, they form lasting relationships, getting to know their customer’s business needs, desires, and often, their unique stories.

We’ve been working with customer Julie Fanning, Vice President of the O’Donnell Agency, for over a year, crafting one of a kind promotional pieces to assist with the company’s branding work. Thanks to our relationship with Julie, we’ve come to know a bit more about her family, and earned the business of our youngest customer – 8-year-old cookie baker and entrepreneur, Madeline Fanning of Madeline’s Munchies.

Madeline’s Munchies, a small cookie business run by Madeline and her parents, started thanks to a lost phone and a little girl’s desire to raise money to buy a new one. Excited to sell her cookies (an old family recipe), Madeline came up with her business name and a logo (with a little help from mom), drafted some ideas, and got to work. Starting small, Madeline sold her cookies at school and in her neighborhood, but it didn’t take long for her business to take off. Shortly after her endeavor began, Madeline received her first large scale order – an order of 800 cookies to be exact!

Wanting to give Madeline a promotional product of her own, Julie placed an order from her account manager for custom stickers displaying Madeline’s design, making Madeline the youngest customer we’ve seen yet! Madeline now uses these stickers to seal her cookie bags, leaving each lucky customer with a sweet promotional treat!

“The stickers have our Facebook address on them, so a bunch of people liked our page and now know how to reach us if they want more cookies,” says Julie. “(Madeline) wants to order t-shirts next for us to wear, so I’ll be contacting you for that soon!”

With cookie flavors like Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Chocolate Bananas Foster, Campfire Coconut S’mores, and Andes Coconut Chocolate Mint, there’s no wonder why Madeline’s business is quickly becoming such a success. She has raised plenty of money to buy a new phone, and Madeline’s Munchies is now registered as an official business, Madeline’s Munchies LLC. Her parents are now busy teaching Madeline the industry side of things, and working with a local coffee shop to sell her cookies on a regular basis. Meanwhile, Madeline is busy whipping up her delicious treats. “My favorite part is spending time with my dad baking cookies,” says Madeline. “Plus, he lets me lick the spoon!”

Oh, and as for Madeline’s favorite cookie: “Double Chocolately Chip! It’s my great grandpa’s recipe and the base for all of our cookies.”

Promotional Moscow Mule Mugs

Moscow Mule mugs have been used for promotional purposes since the Moscow Mule cocktail itself was first created. While nowadays no bar cart would be complete without a set of these iconic copper mugs and the ingredients necessary to fill them, this wasn’t always the case.  In fact, it took years of creative marketing with custom copper mugs to create this beloved cocktail’s success.

The cocktail was first invented in the 1940s by Smirnoff vodka distributor, John Martin, and Hollywood’s Cock’n’Bull bar owner, Jack Morgan.  Martin was having trouble getting Americans to drink vodka, and Morgan was having no luck selling Cock’n’Bull’s house brewed ginger beer, so thus, you guessed it, the Moscow Mule cocktail was born.

Using specially engraved copper mugs, Martin set off to market their creation in bars around the country.  With a Polaroid camera, Martin would ask barmen to pose with his personalized copper mug and a bottle of Smirnoff vodka. He would then snap a couple of photos, leave one copy at the bar, and then take the second to the next bar as proof to other bar owners that his drink was being served by the competition. By 1950, Smirnoff vodka case sales had more than tripled. How’s that for promotional marketing success?

Classic Moscow Mule

Makes 1 cocktail

2 ounces vodka

4 ounces chilled ginger beer

Juice of half a lime

Fill Moscow Mule mug with ice. Add vodka and lime juice, then add ginger beer; stir to mix. Garnish with a lime wedge.

 

Grapefruit-Rosemary Mule

Makes 1 cocktail

2 ounces vodka

2 ounces freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

3 ounces chilled ginger beer

1 sprig fresh rosemary

Fill Moscow Mule mug with ice. Add vodka, grapefruit juice, and lime juice, then add the ginger beer; stir to mix. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and grapefruit slices.

 

Blueberry Moscow Mule

Makes 1 cocktail

2 ounces vodka

4 ounces chilled ginger beer

Juice of half a lime

Blueberry syrup (recipe below)

Fill Moscow Mule mug with ice. Add vodka and lime juice, then add ginger beer; stir to mix. Sweeten with blueberry syrup to taste. Garnish with fresh blueberries and a lime wedge.

 

Blueberry Syrup

1 cup fresh blueberries

¼ cup water

1 tablespoon sugar

Bring the ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan and then lower to a simmer until syrup thickens, about 5-10 minutes. Strain over a glass bowl and let cool.

Where We’ve Been: HBO Premieres and After Parties

We’ve had the privilege of working with award winning event designer, Billy Butchkavitz, for over ten years, helping craft napkins for some of Hollywood’s hottest events, such as HBO’s annual Emmy and Golden Globes parties, and top rated HBO television show premieres.  Butchkavitz’s claim to fame is the eye-popping technicolor décor he has been creating for HBO events since 1999. With Butchkavitz, no detail is overlooked, including the perfect finishing touch to his gorgeous buffet and bar displays, our customized cocktail napkins. Throughout our relationship with Butchkavitz, we’ve had the honor of adding a custom look to several great events he has designed, fashioning napkins for premieres and after parties for some of HBO’s greatest shows, such as Togetherness, True Blood, and The Newsroom.

Annual iPad Contest Giveaway Winner Announced

Our annual iPad giveaway contest has become an exciting tradition here at PrintGlobe. It’s a fun way to give back to our customers, and entering is a cinch. During the month of December, customers earned entries into the contest for every $200 spent at PrintGlobe.com. This year’s iPad winner, Eric Dunning, earned himself one entry with his custom ornament purchase, and walked away the winner of a brand new iPad!
