Friday, August 31st, 2012

AUSTIN TX — PrintGlobe, Inc., a leading online printing and graphic design company and six-time Inc. 5000/500 winner, has relocated to significantly larger headquarters and launched a major upgrade to its www.printglobe.com website, marking the largest expansion in the company’s 17 year history.

The company previously occupied 8,305 sq feet at 4115 Freidrich Lane and recently moved into its new 25,245 sq foot office space at 5812 Trade Center Drive.

According to company founder and CEO Dan Steinborn, the tripling of office space will make room for more than 40 additional employees the company expects to hire in the next several years.

“We have some of the most creative, hard working and fun folks in Austin who make PrintGlobe great. I think we have a special new space that our team deserves and will enjoy for many years to come,” says Steinborn.

According to Steinborn, the space features several dedicated ‘hang-out’ areas, upgraded IT infrastructure with a fiber backbone, additional conference rooms, a new kitchen and a stage that will host live music, company presentations, and more.

In addition to the office expansion, PrintGlobe has re-launched its flagship website which the company has been working on for the past two years. The new website was built with the help of another veteran creative firm in Austin, White Lion.

Steinborn says the new website gives PrintGlobe and its customers a clean, feature-rich platform to more quickly transact complicated printing needs. “Our new website is really fresh. We have a vastly improved user interface, collaborative sharing tools to help our customers explore products with colleagues, and a much more responsive search capability.”

“We have redoubled our commitment to being the very best online printing and branding resources for business customers and plan to continuously add features in order to deliver incredible service and the most complete selection anywhere in the printing industry,” says Steinborn.

Bag Ban in Effect for Austin Starting 2013

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Austin is on the right track to claim a position as the national leader in environmental protection. As of March 2nd, Austin was the first major city in Texas to pass a ban on single-use shopping bags. Austin City Council passed a law which will prohibit retailers from using disposable paper and plastic bags beginning March 2013. The ban has exceptions, including; one-use bags for bulk food items, dry cleaning bags  and produce bags.

The bag ban couldn’t come soon enough. The City of Austin spends as much as $800,000 year cleaning up litter caused by disposable bags. Also, it is estimated that plastic bags can take over 1,000 years to break down in landfills and the current global consumption is nearly 1 million bags used every minute. That figure is just incredible. While it may take consumers some time to adjust to the ban, there has been a boom in the availability of reusable bags. A huge variety of different styles, colors and designs are showing up on the market every day. You can now easily find reusable alternatives, such as, eco-friendly reusable bags, organic cotton canvas bags, recycled totes and non-woven polypropylene bags.

Here is a break down of just a few of the many choices available to retailers and consumers:

Custom Non-Woven Shopping BagsNon-Woven Grocery Bags – Non-woven polypropylene bags have become a popular alternative to disposable bags. They’re an excellent choice because they’re affordable, durable, lightweight and easy to store. The majority of non-woven shopping bags can be washed and reused hundreds of times. They’re available in a wide range of sizes, styles and colors. They’re an excellent choice for everyday use because they are cost effective, easily imprinted and fairly long lasting.

Printed Cotton Tote BagsCotton Canvas Totes – All natural canvas totes offer a highly durable alternative to ordinary disposable bags. They can last for years, are easily cleaned and are made of all natural cotton. Not only are canvas totes great for shopping, they’re perfect for the beach, toting books, poolside or vacations. These versatile bags have a lot to offer and are the perfect blank canvas for imprinting a logo.Custom Eco-Friendly Totes

Eco-friendly and Biodegradable Bags – Bags made of recycled materials, sustainable bamboo and biodegradable cotton are outstanding green alternatives to single-use disposable bags. Not only do these bags cut down on unnecessary use of disposable bags, they are made of earth friendly materials. Eco-friendly bags are stylish, send a great message and offer a bag option you can feel good about. Environmentally friendly bags are perfect for green businesses, food co-ops and spreading an eco-friendly message.

As the popularity of reusable bags continues to grow and more cities implement bans on disposable bags, now is the perfect time to start thinking about your strategy. Be forward thinking, offer up a green alternative and customize reusable bags with your logo or message.
