PrintGlobe Races for the Cure in 2009November 4th, 2009 by Jamie Dickens
PrintGlobe joined thousands in the 12th anniversary of the Race for the Cure in Northwest Austin. This year PrintGlobe’s team of “Globe Checkers” gave away free personalized sunglasses to participants of the race to help spread awareness and show their support of the cause.
Sunday’s race raised funds for breast cancer screening and treatment programs, celebrated survivors and honored those who have battled with the disease. Approximately seventy-five percent of the funds raised stay in Austin to provide breast health education, screening and treatment services in the greater Austin area and surrounding communities. The additional proceeds are sent to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program.
Since the first race in 2003, the Austin event has raised nearly seven million dollars for breast cancer research and treatment. The Austin Race for the Cure raised nearly one million dollars this year. If you would like to make a donation for the Susan G. Komen Search for a Cure, donations for the Race are accepted through November 30th.
PrintGlobe was proud to take part in this excellent cause for the second year in a row. We would like to remind you to get all necessary screenings. Early detection is the key in fighting breast cancer.
